"Hope"
🎥 Hope – A Film About Possibility, Dignity, and the Right to Dream
Over the past few months, I had the opportunity to work with Amala Education in Amman, Jordan — an organisation that provides transformative learning to young people who are often displaced, excluded, or left behind by traditional systems.
During my time there, I directed a short documentary called "Hope" — a visual portrait of the Amala learning community, seen through the eyes of the students themselves.
This film is about more than education. It’s about resilience, dignity, and the small, radical act of imagining a different future.

Why This Film Matters
As a filmmaker and communication specialist working in humanitarian and development contexts, I’m often struck by how stories of crisis overshadow the quiet, persistent work of rebuilding. Hope tries to do the opposite: it centers the everyday brilliance of students who refuse to be defined by displacement.
Filmed in classrooms, courtyards, and quiet corners of Amman, the video features voices from across the region — Syria, Iraq, Sudan, Palestine — and highlights the importance of access, equity, and the right to learn.
About the Process
The video was developed in close collaboration with the students and staff of Amala. From the concept to the final cut, we worked together to ensure their stories were told with honesty and care.
All the footage was shot on location in Amman, and much of the voiceover came from recorded conversations and workshop reflections. The film’s style is intimate, observational, and grounded in the belief that communication can be both ethical and poetic.
Thank You
To the students who shared their time, their voices, and their trust — thank you. And to the Amala team: it was a privilege to work alongside you.
I hope this film serves as a small window into the quiet power of hope, and the possibility of reimagining the future — one learner at a time.
